1. Confirm that it is, in fact, a full day off of work due to winter weather conditions. If it is just a holiday therefore you do not have to work but there happens to be snow on the ground, it is not in fact a snow day merely a holiday with snow. "Winter weather advisory" is key in recognizing this distinction as well as mass forms of announcements from your employer.
2. Take a trip to your local Marsh grocer to purchase some much needed nourishment. The snow day may be one day. It may be ten. Be prepared. Hummus and pita chips and Bangle Spice tea are staples for a snow day and should be purchased.
3. Make sure to visit your closest neighborhood Dunkin Donuts. Supporting a business in a natural disaster is a positive thing for our economy. And donuts and coffee are a positive thing for your tummy. (I recommend the inside-out boston creme donut and blueberry coffee latte. delish.)
4. Go for a walk outside, thus to prevent the epidemic of "cabin fever." Be sure to mind the 4 inches of ice on top of the sidewalks. No you are not at the ice arena but yes it may be more useful to wear your ice-skates to get around the city.
5. Nourish yourself (please reference number 1 for first steps of this process). Nourishing may also happen simultaneously with some type of entertainment, i.e. a good movie or a couple episodes of one's favorite television series.
6. Try to bake something. If the final product doesn't turn out how you had anticipated, just add more chocolate to it. It will turn a dessert frown upside-down. Every time.
Now when you hear "winter advisory warning"you are fully equipped with the top snow day knowledge. Go gettem'.
Love this! Very witty--miss you!
